Chapter 46 part 2


Amy looks around in the room, blinking in the sharp light.
“Dani, Christina, Lauren, Kath.” She says as her eyes and brain register our faces. “What happened? Why are you all here?”

She looks around in the room, and her eyes widen a bit when she takes in her surroundings. “Is this a hospital? What have happened to me?!” He says, sounding really scared now.
“Shhh, deep breaths, alright?” Dani says calmly, and rubs Amy’s arm comforting. It looks like its helping, because Amy rests her head against the pillow again, and tries to breathe slower even though in her eyes she is still freaking out.
“I’ll call Niall”, Lauren mutters, and I nod at her, beaming through the tears. She smiles at me before going off to call Niall.

Just then, the doors open, and a smiling Doctor Jones comes into the room.
“I’m glad your finally awake, Amy”, She says, and Amy looks at her confused. “I’m your doctor”, Jones continues. “Doctor Jones”.
“What happened?” Amy asks her. “I don’t remember anything”.
She doesn’t remember anything? That doesn’t sound good.
I glance over at Doctor Jones, who meets my eyes.
“It’s normal under the circumstances that she doesn’t remember anything about the accident”, She says calmingly, and I relax a bit.
“I’m actually here, you know”, Amy says and waves a bit with her arm at us, but just by that small gesture she goes even paler. Man, she’s weak.
Jones looks down at Amy again. “Amy, you were in a car-accident, and were in a coma. We have called your parents, and they will be here as fast as they can”.

“Wait, a car-accident?” Amy says, her eyes widening. “How come I can’t remember anything about that?”
Jones smiles. “Your brain is still recovering. Some things may be a little blurry, but we hope it will clear up soon”.

Amy nods, and then looks down at her hands.
Jones starts to walk to the door. “Call on a nurse if you need anything, alright?”
Amy nods again, but doesn’t say anything.
“Are you okay?” Lauren asks when she sits down at Amy’s bed. I didn’t even notice that she came back in.
Amy smiles weakly. “I just woke up from a coma. How about you?” She says jokingly, and Lauren smiles.

Amy furrows her eyebrows and glance at the clock on the wall. “How long have I’ve been out? I didn’t miss thanks-giving, right?”

The silence that follows form her question is pressing on my eardrums. Did she just ask if she missed thanks-giving?

“Amy”, Katherine says slowly. “We were away for thanks-giving, remember? I think we were in Germany”.
Amy shakes her head a bit, like she’s clearing her thoughts. “Oh, that’s right, sorry”.

But she still has that worried look on her face, and I can’t help but think if she really is alright.
Dani smiles at Amy. “We have to call Niall, like now. He will be so happy when he hears that you’re awake. He was so worried!”
Katherine nods with a big smile. “He barely leaved your side for three weeks!”
Lauren laughs a bit. “I already called him, he and the boys are on their way”.

Amy’s smile fades, and she stares at Dani and Katherine.
“Niall…” She begins, and they nod and smiles happily.
Amy furrows her eyebrows again, and keeps staring at them.
Then she looks at all of us, one at the time, and when she meets my eyes I get a cold feeling in my chest, like someone is stabbing me with an icicle again and again.
Amy stares at all of us with a distant and emotionally blank gaze.

Then she separates her lips, and asks with a confused voice:
“Who is Niall?”
