But it was like you said: JUST. NO. Hahaha.

I am far more comfortable discoursing in English than I am in Swedish. To me it is the epitome of merriment to scrutinise the Oxford Dictionary of English in search of a lexeme or a lemma I have yet to learn the meaning and use of or attain information regarding the etymology thereof. I find few things as rejoicing as searching–fruitfully or otherwise–for antonyms, synonyms and homonyms.



Mind you, what is presented in this thread thus far doesn't necessarily portray linguistic brilliance.

I don't like when people use advanced english and think "oooohh I'm the best, no one can beat my english!" - but I don't think it matters, as long as you can write and talk without grammar mistakes and spell properly. I don't use hard words and strange sentences in perfect British English and I've got MVG in "högstadiet" and "gymnasiet".

What are your feelings in regard to people who formulate their thoughts in an ameliorative fashion thinking "language is a bloody brilliant invention and I cherish its heritage by actively trying to liven up the otherwise declining use of it"?

It's OK I guess. I really don't think about it that often. I'm just annoyed by people bragging.

It doesn't necessarily mean that they're bragging, they might just prefer that way of expressing themselves. But I get your point, as soon as it turns into incoherent sentences just because they want to ''show off'' - that's when it gets annoying.
