Margaret and Jinx - we are in the same boat, girls! I honestly do think this is mainly because I have been going to an English school for nearly four years now, which of course has had its impact on my English language - but also on my Swedish language. Even though I do have the same grade in both languages, I feel more secure when speaking or writing in English than I do while using Swedish. This is kind of alarming, to be honest, seeing as I am born here (even though I am positive that I was born in the wrong country at the wrong time). I don't know, it just comes naturally to me to write and speak in English. Of course it does the same with Swedish, but I have lost so many words and such in my Swedish vocabulary. For nearly two years ago, all I ever did was to create these complicated and complex sentences with the most weirdest words while writing in Swedish, but now I really have to think hard to get those words forward in my mind. It's scary, haha!

Well, I'm glad to see I'm not alone... I've got the same grade in both Swedish and English as well. I don't know why, but some things that I write looks kind of awkward in Swedish... Sometimes I can barely keep myself from throwing some english words into my Swedish essays, and I doubt that would be appreciated. At least we have an advantage in a global perspective.

I've never gone to an all English-speaking school, but I've never had a hard time learning the language.

When I was still in a carriage/stroller/w/e, my parents used to speak English when they talked about stuff they didn't want me to know. One day they talked about buying ice cream, and suddenly I just shouted "No, I don't want ice cream", in Swedish. Just as a funny anecdote.

But seriously, I've always found it easy to learn English. In "gymnasiet" for example, I have only studied one level math, but three levels of English. My only MVG in "gymnasiet" is in the English B-course.

I've gone so far now that I am bothered by Swedish subtitles while watching movies. Or well, any subtitles at all, reallly. I just turn them off all the time. I've been watching movies and TV-shows online without subtitles for like at least three years now, as well as reading English fanfiction for an even longer period of time. Although, I think this has actually been two of the factors of my improved English the last few years, as well as the absoultely great teacher I had two years ago...

Now I don't really feel like I've explained my point and that I've just been rambling. Sorry about that.

I hate to say this, but I'm too lazy to read all the long texts you're writing, haha. I'm so sorry!

So, yeah... What's up?

Hello dear folks! ♥
I should've known it existed a topic like this! What a great oppurtunity to enlarge my english vocabulary and learn to fix the sentences properly. So, it would be great if you critized my english! Anyways, WUZZUP!? XD

Speaking of having difficulties with the Swedish language - what I do, is that I translate English expressions directly into Swedish.
Like "fall in love". I just translated it without thinking and it didn't sound too good in Swedish x)
This only happens when I speak, though. I still don't have a problem at all with writing in Swedish, and I'm very grateful for that because that's sort of the only thing I really know how to do - express myself through writing - without that ability I'd be pretty lost!

I love the English language. I love using it. I love writing in English, but I always feel safer using Swedish : )

I've realized now that I use a lot of english when I write sentences on the Internet - it's kind of hard for me not to do that, I can express my feelings better in english, in some way.
I don't have that hard to learn english at all, I think I can speak very good english for my age actually.
I also talk a lot, a lot, with myself, and that's often in english.

That with expressing myself - the words I use a lot in english sounds so wrong in swedish, so I think I'll stick with english haha.

^ aaaaah that thing with using sentences in English to express yourself better even if the rest of what you write is in Swedish

WELL I TRIED TO STOP DOING IT because I didn't like mixing two languages.

... it was irritating, I won't ever try it again xD
